We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join the Aspire Institute Team as a Communications Intern for the 2024 Summer. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to engaging our global audience, driving applications to the Aspire Leaders Program this year through outreach, events, marketing, and communications initiatives. This role will involve assistance with other teams’ communications and marketing material including landing pages, event graphics, and email campaigns.

Throughout the summer months, the Communications Intern will develop a project that they independently own with guidance from Aspire Institute managers. The ideal candidate should have writing, research, and graphic design skills as well as a passion for supporting first-generation college students and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-growing environment. The internship offers valuable hands-on experience in alumni program management and leadership development within the context of supporting first-generation college students. Location and Hours:

The position will be full-time over the summer with a hybrid schedule. The candidate will be in the office in Cambridge, MA Tuesday – Thursday and working remotely on Monday and Friday.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Event Planning and Marketing
    • Plan various events alongside the communications & outreach team and help produce the registration page, marketing materials, and agenda. Coordinate with the Aspire team and any external stakeholders for each event. 
  • Graphic Design and Social Media Management
    • Assist with graphics for social media, landing pages, and other promotional materials. Help with social media ideas and campaigns.
  • Public Speaking and Event Coordination
    • Speak on behalf of the Aspire Institute and the Aspire Leaders Program at both online and in person events and meetings.
  • Database Management
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of partner and collaborator information in our database and CRM. Update contact information and recent touchpoints with our partners around the world. 
  • Outreach and Communications
    • Help produce emails and other communications materials to send to our key stakeholders, including partners, prospective applicants, donors, and alumni. Conduct outreach research to identify new partnerships and make introductions to our team for further collaboration. 
  • Measuring Impact
    • Analyzing the success of events, social media, email, and other marketing campaigns.
  • Administrative Support
    • Provide general administrative assistance to the communications & outreach team, such as managing email correspondence, scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and ordering swag items for events or conferences.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree or recently graduated.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficient in conducting research and gathering relevant information from various sources.
  • Previous experience with online event planning and management preferred. 
  • Previous experience with admissions, communications, and/or marketing preferred.
  • Commitment to supporting first-generation college students and promoting diversity and inclusion.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in using productivity tools (e.g Microsoft Office, Google drive, and other specific software) and experience with database management is a plus.

Compensation:

$20/hour
