Aspire alumni across Pakistan recently completed a four-week Power Business Intelligence course, helping them build practical data skills they will be able to bring into their professional careers.
The course was designed to make data learning simple and accessible. Across four sessions, participants learned how to convert raw data into clear, meaningful visuals. The final goal was for learners to create their own dashboard that could reflect their new skills and be added to their professional portfolio.
It was led by Syed Abid Hassan Jaffri, an Aspire alumnus, Google-Certified Business Intelligence Professional, and I.T. Domain Leader at Aspire Institute. For Abid, the motivation behind teaching came from a lesson he learned from his mother.
“The more you spread knowledge, the more it will increase,” he said.
This belief shaped the entire spirit of the course. What started as a skills-based training became a meaningful alumni-led learning experience, where participants were not only introduced to Power BI, but also encouraged to explore how data can support better decision-making across different fields.
At the end of their training, participants reported feeling more confident about working with data and had created dashboards on topics such as sales trends, payment records, case distribution, performance tracking, and monthly summaries. Their work showed how quickly they were able to move from learning the basics to presenting information like professionals. Participants reported feeling more confident in their skills
“Before this course, Power BI felt difficult to understand,” one alumnus said. “The sessions made it easier, and I was able to create my own dashboard.”
“The course was practical and beginner-friendly. It helped me understand how data can be turned into clear visuals and useful insights,” another alumnus added.
For Abid, the experience was equally meaningful.
“The students were very respectable, eager to learn, and cooperative throughout the course. Overall, it was a great experience of teaching,” he said.
The course also highlighted the strength of Aspire’s alumni community. Abid’s journey from attending alumni sessions to leading workshops of his own demonstrates the impact of peer-to-peer learning. By sharing his knowledge, he helped fellow alumni develop valuable digital skills, build confidence, and explore new career opportunities. The experience shows how learning within the Aspire network extends beyond the program itself, creating an ongoing cycle of mentorship, support, and shared growth.
